New Quilt Tops

If you visit my site regularly, you'll notice that some months there are a lot of
new tops and then some months not so many. My process involves a lot of
starting a top and then putting it aside to "marinate" for a while. Then I get in a
finishing mood and setting ideas seem to come in groups! Plus, I wait until I
have enough tops finished to fill a roll of film with pictures. I've heard they've
invented digital cameras - but, this pace suits me:) So, from start to finish, I
usually have a Quilt Top with me anywhere from a few months to a few years.
I also like to stay about a half a year ahead so that, no matter what is
happening in my non-quilting life, I can keep my promise of new Quilt Tops on
the first of each month. Working this way also allows me the freedom to go to
a new color group when I'm tired of what I'm working with or just to tear into a
new piece of fabric when I feel the "need." Additionally, if a design is being
difficult, I can put it in the "time-out" pile until it's feeling a little more cooperative
or until I've become more skilled - whichever comes first!
