| I love Scrap Quilts!! Whenever I'm working on a quilt top (which is always!) I'm working on a Scrap Quilt at the same time. It's so much fun to pick up a piece of fabric for the scrappy quilt and remember what that fabric was used in originally . Usually the memory is fond, however, occasionally my response to a print is more like, "I wore THAT.... in a dress...in public...Gad Zooks!!" How fortunate for me (and those who see me regularly) that I found quilting where I can indulge my love of distinctive fabrics without having to wear all of them! When choosing fabrics for a scrappy quilt, I often group colors but I seldom select by fabric themes or designers. So, you could find Kaffe Fassett sharing a nine-patch with Lynette Jensen - or possibly, a hockey player's leg, a penguin body or a horse's....umm tail! Yep, scrappy, that's what they are :) A Scrap Quilt is to the sewing room what a big pot of soup is to the kitchen - they both just make you feel good! I generally start both in the same way - no definite plan, just keep adding until it looks good or tastes good (whichever is appropriate!) |
